ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's hockey team (17-1-2, 13-0-2) got a pair of goals from Justin Basso and cruised to a 6-1 win over Lake Forest College (9-9-2, 6-8-1), Saturday night in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play in extending the nation's current best unbeaten streak at 10.
The team can clinch a sixth-consecutive conference title tomorrow before their home fans in a breast cancer awareness game.
Shaquille Merasty wasted no time getting the Bulldogs on the board with his 17th goal of the year just 34 seconds after the opening faceoff.
The teams would trade goals in the second period. Lowe would score after receiving a rink-wide pass from Shawn Courtney to put Adrian up, 3-1, with less than three minutes left in the middle stanza.
The third period belonged to the Bulldogs. Josh Ranalli would notch his 11th of the season about four minutes in before the nation's most prolific power play would click twice.
Basso would net his second of the game and fifth of the season for a 5-1 lead. The power-play goal would be the team's 100th overall goal on the season.
Then Josh Cousineau would score again with the man-advantage to round out the scoring with his seventh of the season.
Lowe and Leone would each finish the night with a pair of points.
The Bulldogs have the top Division III scoring offense and power play and have the fewest losses overall. They remain undefeated in MCHA play.
Tomorrow's contest against the Foresters is set for 3 p.m. and is the team's Pink the Rink game.
