On Monday, the Adrian College men's NCAA hockey team had an opportunity to tour Lugano, Switzerland and paddle boated on Lake Lugano. The team then took the ice at 5:30 for Game 2 of the Challenge series versus GDT Bellinzona.
The set up was a little different from Game 1 as outgoing seniors Andrew Dovey, Shawn Courtney, Kyle Gallinger and Zach Graham played for the Swiss team with only the returning Bulldog players suiting up for Adrian.
James Hamby started in goal and had a shutout over the first half of the game. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on goals from Shaquille Merasty and Duston Hebebrand. Adrian extended the lead after two periods to 4-0 with Hebebrand picking up his second of the game followed by a power play goal by Ryan Lowe. Scott Shackell surrendered two goals in the third period to GTD Bellinzona with their second goal coming off the stick of Dovey. GTD Bellinzona couldn't get any closer as the Bulldogs took game two 4-2 and the Challenge Cup Series.
