Adrian College junior Josh Ranalli (Jr, F - Stoney Creek, Ontario) is the NCHA Men's Offensive Player of the Week and St. Scholastica senior Colin Rundell (Sr, G - Tees, Alberta) is the NCHA Men's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
With all 10 teams in action, league play was the main theme of the weekend and four squads went on to claim two-game sweeps. No. 1/2 St. Norbert made a first impression with a pair of come-from-behind victories, topping Marian University with a pair of goals after falling behind 1-0 Friday and then with five-straight goals after falling into a two-goal, second-period deficit in Saturday's 5-2 win. No. 6/6 Adrian took a pair from Northland College and newcomer St. Scholastica swept MSOE in a series that matched up a pair of teams receiving votes in the national polls. Lastly, Concordia Wisconsin made a statement by
sweeping Lawrence University for the first 2-0 start in program history.
In non-league action, Lake Forest College earned an impressive 3-0 victory over Stout, while Finlandia ran into a tough Stevens Point squad that was ranked No. 13 in the polls last week. Ranalli earns the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after topping a crowded list of nominees with his league-high four goals on the weekend. Not only did he score twice each contest - giving him eight career multi-goal games - but tallied the game-winner each night against the Lumberjacks. For his career against Northland, Ranalli has 12 goals and four assists in just six games to go along with a plus-12 rating, three game-winners and four power play goals.
Rundell is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Saints to an impressive sweep on the road of an MSOE team that was receiving votes in both of the polls. Rundell stopped 51 of 54 shots on the weekend, starting with 26 saves in Friday's 4-3 win over the Raiders. He then topped that by recording his third career shutout, stopping all 25 shots in Saturday's 2-0 triumph.
