FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The men's hockey team came back after a tie last night and showed why they are the No. 3 team in Division III with a 6-0 win at Marian University on Saturday. Junior Scott Shackell was helped out by a strong defense and needed to make just 13 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and improve to 3-0 in net. Adrian outshot the Sabres 36-13 and were 3-for-11 on the power play after going 0-for-7 last night.
Adrian scored all three of their power play goals in the second period to put the game away. In fact, they scored those three goals in a span of 1:35 in the middle of the period. Six different players scored for the Bulldogs who also won 32-of-50 faceoffs. Justin Basso finished with a goal and two assists and scored the game's first goal at 1:30 of the first period. Josh Ranalli scored the second goal at 5:12 of the first and now has 12 goals this season.
Chris Leone, Duston Hebebrand, Brett Pinkerton and Shelby Gray also scored for Adrian. Jeremy Olinyk finished with two assists. Ryan Lowe chipped in two assists as Adrian improved to 10-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the NCHA.
