Shackell Named NCHA Defensive Player of the Week

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Junior goaltender Scott Shackell (Kanata, Ont.) is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after a hard-earned 1-0-1 weekend in net of a Top-15 battle against St. Scholastica.

Shackell stopped 34 shots in a 1-1 tie Friday and then gloved 31 more shots in a 4-3 overtime win Saturday. For the weekend, he had a 1.89 goals-against average and .942 save percentage. Shackell currently tops the NCHA and ranks second in the nation with a 1.23 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage. Shackell has now appeared in 44 career games and made 39 starts in net. He has a 1.87 goals-against average and .935 save percentage while sporting a 30-5-4 record.

The Bulldogs are still holding on to the No. 1 ranking in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com national polls. Adrian is currently 14-0-3 and off to their best start in program history without a loss. The Bulldogs will welcome Finlandia University to Arrington Ice Arena this Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.).
