MEQUON, Wis. – The Adrian College power play got a boost on Saturday (Nov. 15) in the Bulldogs' 6-2 win at Concordia (Wis.) going 3-for-6 against the Falcons. Adrian improved to 6-0 overall and 6-0 in the NCHA by building a lead and keeping it throughout the game.
Freshman Austin Rust scored his first goal of the season at 5:20 of the first period with Kyle Brothers picking up his sixth assist. Concordia (Wis.) tied the game at 12:43 of the first on the power play as Jared Pilet scored his first of the season from Anthony Pickering and Braden Crone.
The Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead after two periods with a pair of power play goals in the second. Senior captain Duston Hebebrand gave Adrian a 2-1 lead at 7:59 from Ryan Lowe and Josh Ranalli. Lowe scored the game-winner also on the power play at 13:35 from Ryan Gieseler and Ranalli. Brody Decker scored on the power play at 18:22 from Crone and Pickering to make it a one-goal game entering the final 20 minutes.
The third period was all Bulldogs as they scored three goals in a span of 8:27 to claim the 6-2 victory. Mathew Thompson notched his third of the season at 10:03 from Taylor McCloy and Brothers. Ranalli made it a three-point game at 12:49 unassisted for his fifth of the season. Senior Rob Heath scored his second of the season at 18:30 from David Haaf to complete the scoring.
Senior goaltender Scott Shackell got another win in the weekend series making 35 saves and improving to 4-0 this season. Jake Hebda fell to 0-3 after making 30 saves for the Falcons.
