Lowe and Shackell Named NCHA Players of the Week

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Adrian College senior forward Ryan Lowe (Arnprior, Ont.) is the NCHA Men's Offensive Player of the Week and Adrian College senior goaltender Scott Shackell (Kanata, Ont.) is the NCHA Men's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Lowe had a five-point weekend (2G-3A), leading the Bulldogs to an early-season sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin on the road. His play Friday night was key. Trailing 3-0 early in the second period, Adrian scored to start the comeback. Lowe then assisted the next two goals to tie the game and netted the game-winner with about five minutes remaining in the 5-3 decision. Then, Saturday, Lowe assisted on a score that made it 2-1 Adrian and buried the game-winner later for the second straight victory.

Shackell had just as prominent of a role in the sweep of the Falcons, coming on in relief after CUW had taken that 3-0 lead Friday. He made 20 saves without allowing a goal in that win and then added 35 more stops the next night to complete the sweep and post a .965 save percentage (55-of-57) on the weekend.
