BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--For the second time in a row, an Adrian College defenseman has been named to the D3hockey.com Men's Team of the Week. This time the honors go to junior Michael Hoy (South Lyon, Mich./Texas Tornado, NAHL), who succeeds senior alternate captain Chris Leone who has been honored nationally on Dec. 8, Nov. 17 and Nov. 10.
Hoy's first goal of the season came at a critical time on the road, as he scored the go-ahead marker with 1 minute and 53 seconds remaining in the second period to lift the nationally-ranked Bulldogs over host Nazareth College, 2-1, to close the fall semester on Saturday.
The biology major also has four assists for five total points and a plus-7 rating through nine games played.
In other Bulldogs hockey news, the team remains steady in both NCAA Division III national rankings: second in the D3hockey poll with a season-high 274 points (one first-place vote) and fourth by USCHO.com with 240.
Adrian is unbeaten in its last nine games (8 wins with a tie), outscoring opponents 50 to 16 during that stretch, to improve to 8-1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 2-3, at the Pathfinder Bank Oswego Classic, which also includes Williams College (Saturday at 4 p.m.), Castleton State and the host Lakers (either team on Sunday at 1/4 p.m.) in Oswego, N.Y.
