BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College led the nation with two selections on the D3hockey.com Men's Team of the Week, announced today by the website. Freshman Cory Dunn (Trenton, Mich./Austin Bruins, NAHL) was one of two defensemen chosen and sophomore center Mathew Thompson (Bolton, Ontario/Trenton Golden Hawks, OJHL) made the six-man team on offense.
Dunn paced all Bulldog blueliners with five points, and led the team with five assists and a plus-7 rating as No. 2 Adrian swept a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association home series over Lake Forest, 5-1 and 8-3. In a four-goal win on Friday, he posted a career-high three points.
Thompson, who also has been named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week this afternoon, led the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs offensively over the Foresters, with four goals, seven points and 13 shots on goal. On Friday, he had a goal and two assists. On Saturday, he tied a season-high with four points, including two power-play goals, and won 15 of 23 face-offs.
For the season, he is fifth in the nation in scoring with 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists, and tops in conference goal-scoring and total points.
Previously, Thompson was recognized on the inaugural D3hockey.com Team of the Week on Nov. 10.
