BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--The staff at D3hockey.com on Wednesday named senior Michael Hoy of the Adrian College men's hockey team to the website's national team of the week. Hoy, who is one of two defensemen selected, earns his second-ever appearance on the D3hockey TOW.
The South Lyon High School graduate (Texas Tornado, NAHL) led Adrian blueliners with three points during the Bulldogs' two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association road sweep at Lawrence, 5-3 and 2-1, clinching at least a share of the South Division title.
Hoy scored what proved to be the game-winning goal--his first of the season--in the third period of Friday's game, giving Adrian a 4-2 advantage at the time. He also assisted on Taylor McCloy's goal that gave AC the lead for good, 3-2. In Saturday's contest, he assisted on McCloy's game-winner in the third to spring him for a breakaway while the Bulldogs were killing off a penalty.
Hoy helped anchor a defense that limited the Vikings to just 41 shots on goal during the weekend.
Hoy also made D3hockey.com TOW on Dec. 15, 2015.
Hoy & Company are back in action--following an idle week--on Friday, Feb. 10 (8 p.m.; Video | Live stats) and Saturday, Feb. 11 (5 p.m.; Video | Live stats) at NCHA opponent Concordia-Wisconsin for their last conference road series of the season.
Adrian, which is nationally ranked seventh by D3hockey.com and ninth in the USCHO.com poll, are 14-5-2 overall and 13-3 in the NCHA. The Bulldogs are also on a 10-game road conference winning streak dating back to last season.
