ADRIAN, Mich.--The 2016-17 NCAA men's hockey season will be highlighted by a significant addition to the fan experience at Arrington Ice Arena, Adrian College Athletics officials have announced.

Section A (rows D through G) will now be designated the Bulldog Student Section. The student section seats are FREE to students with a valid Adrian College ID and will be made available starting one hour prior to game times (6 p.m. for a 7:05 p.m. face-off, 2 p.m. for a 3:05 p.m. contest). The student section will receive in-game giveaways, membership opportunities, and be included in multiple other aspects of the Bulldogs NCAA men's hockey program.

Students are expected to have the section full prior to the starting lineups and the national anthem. The student section is encouraged to be boisterous and creative, but will be held to a first-class standard as all NCAA sportsmanship policies must be followed.

The Adrian College hockey family section will now be located in Section D.

The student section is seeking a nickname. Please Tweet possible nicknames by Oct. 1 to @AdrianBulldogs using the hashtag #hockeystudentsection. The three finalists will be placed into a final social media vote.

Sponsorship and signage opportunities may exist within the students section. For more details, please contact Arrington Ice Arena manager Jeremy Symington by phone (517) 265-5161, x5017, or email

With the passionate fan-base of the local community and College students, Adrian has led the nation in attendance based on capacity-percentage for eight of the past nine seasons, according to The Bulldogs average 139.8 percent of capacity in Arrington since their inception beginning with the 2007-08 season.

"Arrington is a tough place for opponents to come play," Adrian coach Adam Krug '12 stated, referring to the Bulldogs' eye-popping 116-14-6 home record for an .875 winning percentage since the facility opened with the first game on Oct. 19, 2007. "It always has been. One thing that we've lacked is a true student section.

"Big groups of students come out to games regularly and have been screaming into the glass for 9 years. I'm happy to reward them and putting them in section A will allow them to be heard," he said.

"Student sections are a staple in college hockey and I'm glad we're taking the step to provide this characteristic to the Bulldog Hockey atmosphere.

"The players will certainly appreciate a raucous group. It'll be fun to see the traditions the students will start in Section A."
