ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's hockey program remains ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III, according to D3hockey.com. The 2-0 Bulldogs are again ranked second in the US College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll.
For the third straight time, Adrian is No. 1 in the Bloomington, Minn.-based D3hockey.com poll while receiving 291 points and 14 first-place votes, outdistancing Northern Collegiate Hockey Association rival St. Norbert (281 points, five 1st-place votes) and Trinity-Conn. (255, 1).
Minneapolis-based USCHO.com shows the Bulldogs picking up four 1st-place votes among 283 points, trailing only St. Norbert (16, 296).
Adrian opened the regular season with a pair of conference victories on the road against NCHA opponents Lawrence (5-1 on Friday) and Marian-Wis. (5-0 on Saturday). Over the weekend, junior Kevin Entmaa became the fourth Adrian goalie to record 1,000 career saves (1,015) and he is in a three-way tie for first place nationally with a 0.50 goals-against average. Senior left wing Kyle Brothers is tied for the national lead with 2.50 points per game (1g, 4a) and classmate Austin Rust is second with 1.50 goals per contest (3). As a team, the Bulldogs boast Division III's top squad in scoring defense (0.50 gpg), scoring margin (+4.50) and penalty killing (100%, 6-6).
Adrian hits the ice again this weekend versus NCHA foes Finlandia and St. Norbert on Friday (7:15 p.m.) and Saturday (8 p.m. ET), respectively. After a five-game road swing to begin the season, AC's home opener is against NCAA newcomer Trine University on Saturday, Nov. 18 (7:05 p.m.).
