BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College junior defenseman Cory Dunn (Trenton, Mich./Austin Bruins, NAHL) was named Tuesday to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week, signaling Dunn's second appearance this season and seventh time in his career on this national squad.
In a defensive-minded week for the No.2-ranked Bulldogs, Dunn increased his NCAA-leading assists total for defensemen to 12 in wins over St. Scholastica (4-1) and Northland (3-0). He had a plus-2 as he helped the team limit opponents to just 36 shots in two games. The penalty-kill unit also was 9-for-9 and Adrian has killed off 22 consecutive opponents' power plays.
On the season, Dunn lists fourth overall in NCAA Division III assists average (1.33) and has helped the Bulldogs' defense rank second in the nation by allowing just 1.33 goals per game and sixth with a .913 penalty-kill conversion rate. In addition, Adrian boasts the only two goaltenders ranked in Top-10 goals-against average as senior Dillon Kelley is 1.00 to top Division III and junior Kevin Entmaa owns a 1.59 for ninth.
Adrian, which is 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association South Division, is taking a break for final exams before hitting the road on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 12-13, to take on non-conference rival Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Both games are expected to start at 8 p.m. Eastern.
