ADRIAN, Mich.--After a convincing weekend sweep of then-No. 4/5 and 2018 National Runner-Up Salve Regina, Adrian College Men's Hockey jumps several rungs in the NCAA Division III national rankings this week. In the Minneapolis, Minn.-based United States College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll, Adrian is third with 234 points. In the Bloomington, Minn.-based D3hockey.com ratings, Adrian also is third with 255 points.
On Friday, the Bulldogs posted a 2-0 shutout behind a 40-save effort from senior netminder Kevin Entmaa. The 40 stops are a career best for the business management, the fourth-most in Adrian single-game history and the most ever by a Bulldog goalie in a shutout game. Seniors Bryan Yim and Connor Armour provided the offense.
On Saturday, Adrian doubled up the Seahawks, 6-3, behind a career-high-tying four points by junior Dino Balsamo which included his first career hat trick. Seniors Cory Dunn (3 assists), Braden Hellems (2 goals, assist) and Armour (3 assists) added three points apiece to help the offensive cause.
Adrian takes a 10-3-1 overall record and South Division-leading 5-2-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark into fall semester examinations this week and the holidays. The team will close out the 2018 calendar year on Sunday, Dec. 30 with a home date versus SUNY Canton (3:05 p.m.).
Wisconsin-Stevens Point and SUNY Geneseo occupy the top two spots in both polls. Salve drops to ninth in both national rankings.
