Bulldogs drop first game to No. 19 St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – The men's lacrosse team (2-1) forced 22 turnovers against unbeaten nationally-ranked St. Lawrence University (2-0) and held a late third quarter lead before finally falling to the Saints, 10-7, Wednesday at Hall-Leet Stadium in a non-conference matchup.

Five Bulldog players accounted for all of the team's scoring. Leading the way were current Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week Cody Kilcoyne and Mitch Burgin. Both finished the game with a pair of goals and three points.

Also scoring for Adrian were John Hudzinski, Nathan Carroll and Tom Thielman.

The Bulldogs entered the final quarter, 7-7, but were bested in faceoffs and shots. The Saints would get four extra-man chances in the last quarter and convert on one on their way to giving the Bulldogs their first defeat of the season.

Adrian goalkeeper Kevin Lerg had 12 saves on the afternoon, the same amount as the Saints' cage defender.

Lerg kept the Bulldogs in the game when St. Lawrence outshot Adrian, 33-21, after three quarters yet the game was tied.

Brandon MacDonald led the team in ground balls with four; while Hudzinski, Burgin, and Connor Ryan each added three.

Frank Badalamenti was the best for Adrian in faceoffs winning five.

The Bulldogs will continue to travel south to Syracuse, N.Y. where they will play Oswego State on Saturday, March 9th at 11 a.m.
