ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's lacrosse team spotted their guests a goal and then scored eight of the next nine en route to a 19-9 win over Hope on Wednesday night at Docking Stadium. Caleb Digison scored his 27th goal of the season at 12:19 of the first quarter and then the Bulldogs scored eight times beginning at 11:28 of the first until 5:59 of the second. Adrian built an 8-2 lead and walked into the halftime locker room with a 9-3 advantage.
Hope had a little surge in the third quarter which saw them cut the lead to 12-6. Adrian put any comeback attempts to rest by scoring the next six goals to lead 18-6 with 10:58 left in the game. The contest was more physical than most this season for the Bulldogs as they had 10 penalties for eight minutes. Hope had eight penalties for seven minutes themselves with most of the whistles happening in the final three quarters. Adrian went 4-of-8 in man-up opportunities while Hope finished 3-of-8.
Senior Kevin Lerg, fresh off the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week, had 17 saves in net to start this week very strong. 12 of Lerg's 17 saves came in the second half. Freshman Eric Fannell scored five goals and added one assist to run his season goal total to 25. Mitch Burgin scored three times and added two assists for his attack position. Nick Karapas and Nicholas Frontczak each had three goals. Tom Thielman recorded two goals and three assists with three shots on net. Zach Kozlowski won 13-of-28 faceoffs and had seven ground balls. Lido Aldini tallied six ground balls and caused three turnovers.
