ANGOLA, Ind. - The men's lacrosse team had one of their closest games of the MIAA portion of the season but still had enough firepower for a 15-9 win at Trine on Saturday. The Thunder played the Bulldogs tough through the first quarter but then scored seven goals in the second quarter to lead 9-6 at halftime.
Adrian's defense stiffened in the second half allowing just three goals and scored six of their own for a six-goal margin of victory. Trine had a large 22-of-28 edge in faceoffs to keep them in the contest and control possession. Trine scored 3-of-9 times in the extra-man opportunities while Adrian went 1-of-4 scoring in the second.
Junior Mitch Burgin scored five times on six shots on goal and also had three ground balls. Freshman Eric Fannell scored three goals and added two assists while also tallying five ground balls. Doug Boyd scored a goal and also had four assists while registering five ground balls. Nick Karapas, Nicholas Frontczak and Tom Thielman also added two goals in the contest.
