Big Second Quarter Leads to 15-4 Win at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team got off to a slow start on Wednesday at Calvin College. The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 at the end of one quarter, but outscored the Knights 8-0 in the second quarter en route to a 15-4 win.

Tyson Butler and Chris Griffin gave Calvin a 2-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. The Bulldogs then said enough is enough and went on to score the next 11 goals to put the game out of reach in the second half. Adrian took the lead for good at the 13:29 mark of the second quarter as Nick Karapas scored unassisted. Luke Bill, Doug Boyd and Karapas each scored twice in the second.

Adam Findlay scored once in each of the first three quarters and got Adrian on the board at the 11:42 mark of the third quarter from A.J. Smith. Eric Fannell scored three times in the second half including twice in the third. Bill and Smith also scored once in the fourth quarter.

Brett Farrelly made eight saves for the Bulldogs. Mitchell Alexander made 15 saves for the Knights. Smith and Brandon Parnham each totaled five ground balls. Adrian caused 10 turnovers as Cody Schmitt had three. Adrian won 16-of-23 in the faceoff circle as Scott Byrne went 14-of-16. Adrian attempted 47 total shots with 30 shots on net.
