McCarthy Nets Second Goal of Season in 3-1 Loss at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. - The men's soccer team absorbed their first loss of the season on Friday night as they traveled to Elmhurst College and fell 3-1 to the Blue Jays. Elmhurst scored the first half's only goal at 19:24 as Matt Sterner scored his second goal of the season. Sterner's blast off a free kick was deflected by the Adrian wall of players set up in front of goalkeeper James Ruby.

Ryan McCarthy scored the tying goal for the Bulldogs at 68:40 as he worked a nice give-and-go with Nick Minshall to tie the game at 1-1. David Madison scored the game-winner at 71:17 giving him his first goal of the season without an assist. The Blue Jays put the game away at 77:09 as Austin Haas scored his second goal of the campaign with an assist from Ken Miller.

Ruby allowed all three goals and also made three saves for the Bulldogs. John Reglin made six saves for the Blue Jays. Jamie Brower and Pat Bradley each had a pair of shots on goal for the Bulldogs.
