ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team battled the elements and Albion College on Wednesday night (Oct. 19) and found themselves on the losing end of a 1-0 decision in a driving rainstorm.
Neither team could muster a lot of offense and the wind blowing south meant that Adrian had the wind at their back in the first half. Despite this advantage, Albion held the Bulldogs without a shot on goal in the first half. The Britons had just one shot on goal in the first half, but it was a memorable one. Freshman goalkeeper Zach Zeka stopped a penalty kick in the 41st minute off the foot of Denny O'Dowd. Albion got the penalty kick after a hand ball in the box.
Adrian did have two shots on goal in the second half. Stennett Nyekanyeka took a shot from the top of the box as Brian Greathouse made an easy save. Jamie Brower had the other shot on goal off a direct free kick from long range.
Albion finished with five shots on goal and it was Charlie Micunek's header off a corner kick from Ben Lightner at 70:15 in the box which gave Albion its seventh win of the season and a 4-6 record in the MIAA.
