Men's Soccer Picked Fifth in MIAA Poll

ROYAL OAK, Mich.  – The Adrian College men's soccer team will be looking to rebound from last year and crack the top four in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Assocation (MIAA). The Bulldogs were picked fifth by the league's coaches on Monday. The top four schools make the MIAA Tournament again this season.

Hope, who finished second to Calvin in last year's conference race and defeated Olivet 4-1 in the championship game of the conference tournament, received six out of a possible eight first-place votes in the preseason poll of the league's coaches. Calvin was picked to finish second and Olivet third, with both teams receiving one first-place vote.

Poll Results (first-place votes in parenthesis): 1. Hope (6) 8 pts. 2. Calvin (1) 16. 3. Olivet (1) 17. 4. Trine 28. 5. Adrian 33. 6. Albion 34. 7. Alma 43. 8. Kalamazoo 45.

MIAA teams will begin nonconference play on Friday, Aug. 31, with conference action getting underway on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Bulldogs under head coach Chris LeFevre will open up on Friday, Aug. 31 at home against Concordia (Wis.) at 7:00 PM.
