OLIVET, Mich. – The men's soccer team (3-8, 1-4) lost to No. 8 Olivet College (10-0-1, 5-0), 2-0, Saturday before a 300-plus crowd.
It's not often that a team faces a ranked opponent in the same season, let alone two ranked in the top-10; but that's what the Bulldogs were up against this month.
Olivet has shutout their last five opponents, four of whom were also Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) teams. Only one of those teams got closer than Bulldogs to beating the Comets.
It took Adrian awhile to find their legs, and when they did they were able to play the second half of the match even with the undefeated Comets, as neither side scored.
A bright spot for the Bulldogs was the play of freshman goalkeeper, Niko Giantsopoulous, who made a season-high 19 saves.
The team resumes play at Calvin on Tuesday October 2nd, at 4:00 p.m.
