ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Matt Davis has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for games completed last week.
Davis, a freshman from Kalamazoo (Grand Haven HS), played strong defense in leading the Bulldogs to a win and a tie against the MIAA's top two teams for the week. He scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 win over Olivet, and led the Bulldogs' defensive effort in a 2-2 tie with MIAA champion Calvin.
Both teams the Bulldogs beat were ranked nationally in separate polls.
Davis becomes the third Bulldogs' player to be named Player of Week this season, joining teammates Niko Giantsopoulous (Defensive Player of the Week) and Nick Minshall (Offensive Player of the Week), who received the honor in previous weeks.
