ADRIAN, Mich. - College of Mount St. Joseph was no match for the Bulldogs in the season opener as Nick Minshall recorded a hat trick in a 4-0 win at Performance Stadium. Ryan McCarthy also tallied a goal as Adrian College steamrolled the Lions.
The first half saw two scores in the first ten minutes, one from Minshall off of a defensive turnover, the other from McCarthy to put the Bulldogs up early. The team allowed this quick start to fuel a dominant performance in the first half.
The second half started out with Adrian controlling possession through the first 25 minutes until Minshall tallied his second goal in the 70th minute on an assist from Ambrose DiGiovanni. Minshall then recorded his hat trick in the 88th minute on an attack up the middle to solidify a great offensive performance. Niko Giantsopoulous added a shutout performance (4th career) in goal saving all three shots the Lions put on goal.
Head Coach Chris LeFevre was excited about the victory, "I was really pleased with the collective effort put out by the team today. We set out some goals for this game and one of them was to show strong work ethic collectively for 90 minutes and I thought we did that".
