WAUKESHA, Wis.- Adrian College tied Carroll University, 3-3, in a double overtime thriller on Friday night. The Bulldogs fell behind early in the second half, and were staring at a two-goal deficit with just five minutes remaining. However, Coach Chris LeFevre's squad did not back down as they netted two quick goals to force overtime.
The Bulldogs took the early one-goal lead on a Nick Minshall score that was assisted by Pat Bradley in the 19th minute. This lead continued until the 35th minute when Carroll University tied the score to prevent a halftime Bulldog advantage. The second half started with the Pioneers scoring in the 49th minute and controlling this lead through the next 26 minutes of play.
They added to their lead in the 75th minute to take a commanding three to one advantage. The Bulldogs did not let this deter them from their winning mindset as Adrian College rallied to score two goals in the final five minutes of play to send the Pioneers into an overtime contest they were not expecting. Minshall scored his second goal of the night off of another Bradley assist in the 85th minute, and less than two minutes later Ambrose DiGiovanni tied the game helped by Bradley's third assist of the evening. The two overtime periods were played on an even field and neither team could break the tie.
Nick Minshall brought his season total of goals scored to six in only three games played. DiGiovanni tallied his first goal of the season, and Bradley added three assists to bring his season total to four.
The Bulldogs play again tomorrow, September 7, at North Central (Ill.) at 8:30 p.m.
