ADRIAN, Mich.- The Bulldogs and Calvin College came into Saturday's match as the only two remaining undefeated teams in MIAA play. The first half was slanted in favor of the Knights, but Adrian College fought back in the second half only to fall 2-1.
The first half of play was held mostly in the Bulldog's defensive zone as they fought off five of the seven shots the Knights put on goal, and the game headed into intermission with Adrian College looking up at a 2-0 deficit. The second half of play showed the resilience of the Bulldogs with an early offensive push in the 52nd minute that lead to Nick Minshall's 11th goal of the season. This goal was finished by Minshall after his first shot on a breakaway rang off the post, but he gathered the rebound and finished it soundly. This early goal fueled a hard fought second half in which the Bulldogs solidified their defense and shut Calvin College out for all 45 minutes. Niko Giantsopoulous had another great game by tallying seven saves and quarterbacking the defense in order to keep Adrian College in the game. The Bulldogs could not capitalize on the other end and fell to 4-3-2, 2-1 on the season despite winning the second half of play.
Adrian College will play next at home match against Hope College on Tuesday, October 1st at 4 p.m.
