ADRIAN, Mich.- The Bulldogs met the Britons of Albion College Tuesday night in what turned out to be a stalemate. The two clubs needed all 90 minutes plus two overtime periods of 10 minutes, but this was still not enough to determine a winner as the teams finished play in a 1-1 tie.
Albion College took the early lead in the 17th minute when a throw in from deep inside the Adrian College zone, resulted in a header that found the back of the net. The rest of the first half was scoreless, and Adrian went to the half looking up at a 1-0 deficit despite leading the Britons 5-4 in total shots for the half. The Bulldogs did not wait long tie the game in the second half when Ambrose DiGiovanni scored his third of the year in the 54th minute. This goal resulted from a Nick Minshall opportunity that Albion goal keeper Andrew Bobowski managed to stop, but DiGiovanni handled the rebound in order to fire the equalizer to the goal. This was the final score of the match, and the next 56 minutes of game play resulted in scoring opportunities from both sides but no results followed. Niko Giantsopoulous stopped each of the two shots the Britons put on goal after taking the early lead, and Minshall had multiple scoring chances in the final 20 minutes of play. Despite these great efforts, the Bulldogs could not gain the lead and the match resulted in a tie.
Adrian College will see play again on Saturday, October 12th at Olivet College at 12 p.m.
