HOLLAND, Mich.-The Bulldogs met the Flying Dutch of Hope College on Saturday evening in a big MIAA road match in front of over 400 fans.
Adrian College played Hope evenly though the first half of play and the scoreboard showed the same as the two teams finished the first 45 minutes at a 0-0 tie. The Bulldogs then started the second half quickly as Nick Minshall scored his 15th goal of the season on a Riley Jackson assist in the 59th minute. Adrian carried this lead through the next 15 minutes of play looking to secure their fourth MIAA win of 2013, but the Hope tied the game in the 75th minute on a finish off a rebound. This score remained through the final 15 minutes as the two team needed overtime to determine the outcome. The first overtime finished without a score, but the Bulldogs outshot Hope 3-1 in the period. This score remained tied until the 108th minute when the Flying Dutch broke the stalemate on a shot from 10 yards out to win the match 2-1 in double overtime.
This loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-8-4 on the season and 3-6-2 in the MIAA. Adrian College will look to rebound when they play again Tuesday, October 29th at home against Trine University at 7 p.m.
