ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Calvin College Saturday afternoon in an MIAA home matchup. The Knights started quickly as they scored the first goal and kept the Bulldogs scoreless as they dropped Adrian 3-0. This loss sets the overall record for the Bulldogs back to 4-4-1 with a 1-2-1 mark in the MIAA.
The first half started with Calvin coming out firing as they scored in in the eighth minute to put the Bulldogs behind early, 1-0. The Bulldogs then fended off the Knights for the remainder of the half as they looked to even the score. The Bulldogs saw a great opportunity to tie the score in the final minutes of the half as Nick Minshall fired a shot that was turned away by a diving save and the Bulldogs trailed, 1-0, at the break.
The second half saw Adrian continue to mount pressure as they fired five shots on the Knights, but could not even the score. Calvin added to their lead in the 61st minute to leave the score at 2-0, and tallied a late goal in the 86th minute to put the score at 3-0.
Lino Taormina (4-4-1) played a stout game in goal for the Bulldogs as he made six saves.
The Bulldogs will see action again October 1 at 4 p.m. when they travel to take on Albion College.
