ALBION, Mich. – The Bulldog men's soccer team met the Britons of Albion College Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 1) as Adrian looked for three points on the road. The Britons broke through the stalemate in the first half and followed this with a quick second half goal as they topped the Bulldogs, 2-0. This loss sets the overall record for the Bulldogs to 4-5-1 and 1-3-1 in the MIAA.
The Bulldogs and Britons played a close match as they each kept the opposing offense in check throughout the first half. Albion fired four shots while Adrian produced three first-half shots as the teams looked to break the scoreless tie. The Britons managed to break this stalemate in the 28th minute when a through ball beat the Bulldog defenders and Albion carried a 1-0 lead to the break.
The Britons started the second half quickly as they scored in the 48th minute when a Bulldog turnover led to Albion advancing their lead to 2-0. Adrian then looked to respond as they outshot the Britons for the second half by a 6-4 count. The Bulldogs saw shots from Sean Cain, Ryan Kissel and Miles Masters-Clayborne get turned aside by the Britons.
Lino Taormina (4-5-1) made the start in goal for the Bulldogs as he made four saves.
The Bulldogs will see action again on Homecoming Saturday, October 4 at 12 p.m. against Olivet College.
