ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer kicked off Homecoming Saturday with an MIAA matchup against Olivet College. The Bulldogs started slow as the Comets netted three first half goals. Olivet would maintain this advantage as they took out Adrian, 4-1, to set the overall record for the Bulldogs back to 4-6-1 with a 1-4-1 mark in the MIAA.
The Comets started quickly as they scored three first half goals. Olivet began the scoring in the 11th minute that started their offensive surge throughout the half. The Comets would take a 3-0 lead into the break following goals in the 29th and 31st minutes.
The second half saw the Bulldogs bounce back as they looked to fight back into the match. Adrian would fire 10 shots for the half while allowing just six from Olivet. The Bulldogs looked to score as they would see a header from Miles Masters-Clayborne ring off of the post in the 55th minute. Olivet would counter this pressure as they advanced their lead to 4-0 in the 69th minute.The Bulldogs would continue their offensive pressure throughout the half as they broke through the Olivet defense in the 76th minute when a shot from Masters-Clayborne hit the post once again and Nick Minshall gathered the rebound as he netted his fifth goal of the season. This would be the final scoring of the game as the Comets fought off the Bulldog attack and Adrian fell, 4-1.
Lino Taormina (4-6-1) made the start in goal for the Bulldogs as he made two saves.
