Two Second Half Goals Give Bulldogs Edge Over Pioneers

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Adrian College men's soccer team scored twice in the second half to best Marietta 2-0 on Saturday in day one of two at the Marietta College Classic.

First Half: Marietta 0, Adrian 0

• The Bulldogs only recorded one shot in the first half while the Pioneers managed two shots

• Neither team scored on their limited chances and the team took a nil-nil tie into the locker rooms for halftime

Second Half: Marietta 0, Adrian 2

• Adrian junior Shayan Shushtari struck first scoring on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute to give him his first goal of the season

Mike Osorio crossed the ball into the box for Brandon Katona and Katona put it away in the lower right of the net to increase the Bulldog lead to 2-0

• Adrian would hold out for the remainder of the second half to preserve the win and shutout, the team's second shutout of the season


• Shushtari (first goal) and Katona (second goal) each scored for Adrian

• Osorio tallied the team's only assist

• Goalkeeper Spencer Brown faced nine shots, saving all four shots on goal recorded by Marietta


• Andy Rofles attempted three shots

• Cole Pappas tallied two shots, both on goal

• Goalkeeper Tyler Sholl faced five shots, making two saves


• The Bulldogs will play Denison tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for their final game of the Marietta College Classic
