Men's Soccer Takes Home both Player of the Week Awards for the First Time

FREELAND, Mich. - Adrian College men's soccer team took home both of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week Awards for the week of Oct. 15 to Oct. 21, with seniors Tad Davis and Zachary Roller receiving the honors. Roller was named the Defensive Player of the Week while Davis picked up the Offensive Player of the Week award.

Roller helped lead the Bulldogs' defense to two clean sheet victories in MIAA action this week, as AC took down Trine on the road 2-0 and Alma at home 6-0. Roller picked up a goal and an assist in the match against Trine, scoring off of a free kick to make the lead 2-0 for the Black and Gold. He also scored two goals on Senior Night against Alma, including one of Adrian's best goals of the season to make it 5-0.

Davis is Adrian's leading point and goal scorer, and he added to those numbers last week, with three goals scored over the two games, scoring the game-winning goal in both matches. He scored in the second minute against Trine and the 10th and 58th minute in the win over Alma.

This is Davis's second time being named the Offensive Player of the Week by the MIAA and the first Defensive Player of the Week honor of Roller's career. This is also the first time that Adrian's men's soccer team has swept the MIAA Player of the Week awards.

The Bulldogs wrap up their regular season tomorrow when they travel to Hope for a 7 p.m. matchup. Adrian will return home to host a semifinal match in the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 30, with the opponent and time to be named at a later date.
