FREELAND, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team is projected to finish third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in the coaches' preseason poll, the only squad besides the top-pick to own a first-place vote.
The Bulldogs posted an 8-8-1 mark during its first season under head coach Ryan McDonald, breaking the program record for most wins by a first-year coach, going 5-2 in the conference.
Adrian finished tied for second in the MIAA for the second-straight year, while hosting Trine in a semifinal match, which it won in penalty kicks to reach the championship game.
Four student-athletes were named to All-Conference teams, led by now-alum Zachary Roller, the lone first-teamer. Joining Roller on teams were classmate Tad Davis, along with Spencer Brown and Justin Tobin, all on the second team.
Davis also made program history, earning his second CoSIDA All-District Academic award, also collecting the program's first-ever Academic All-America honor.
Conference play kicks off for the Bulldogs on Oct. 1 as they host Olivet for a 4 p.m. match.
