HOW IT HAPPENED
Prior to the Bulldogs' goal in the 38th minute, both teams were posting quality shots. AC started the match with a header shot by Dayton Rush that was saved in the 36th second. Ten minutes later the Lions posted would was arguably their best shot of the day, as Nathan Schmeusser launched a shot from outside the box that was just inches off the mark, ricocheting off the crossbar and out of bounds.
Scoring for Adrian began after a free kick by Garrett Miller worked its way into the box and onto the foot of Andrey Hofius at 38:02. Hofius's goal, the first of his collegiate-career, proved to be the game-winner.
Just 13 seconds later Miller added a goal to the stat sheet, benefitting from a Morees Toma cross inside the box, placing the ball just inside the left post.
The Bulldogs would carry their 2-0 lead throughout the remaining minutes of the contest, but not without one last solid attempt to extend their lead to three. The shot was owned by Macgregor Adams who ripped the ball onto goal, just off the mark, hitting the crossbar with 30 minutes remaining on the clock.
Senior goalkeeper Spencer Brown ensured his fifth shutout of the season with one save.
- Senior Garrett Miller with his team-best three points on a goal and an assist.
- Freshman Andrey Hofius with his first-collegiate tally accounting for the game-winner.
- Goalie Spencer Brown with his fifth shutout of the season. Brown has played in all 826:31 thus far.
The Bulldogs will hit the road for a 5 p.m. nonconference matchup at Calvin on Saturday.
