Adrian Earns Fourth Seed in MIAA Tourney Despite Sr. Day Setback

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team dropped a cold and rainy senior night contest to the second-seeded Hope College Flying Dutchmen on Wednesday. With this loss, AC will be the fourth seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament.

Final Score: Hope 1, Adrian 0

Location: Adrian, Mich. (Docking Stadium – Adrian College)

Records: Hope 13-5-0 (6-1 MIAA), Adrian 11-6-1 (3-2-1 MIAA)

It took the Flying Dutchmen no time at all to make their presence known, collecting the game-winning goal in the opening eight minutes. Their goal was the result of a cross deflected off the shin of a Bulldog defender and into the feet of the bad guys.

Hope almost helped itself to a two goal lead off a bad deflection on Adrian's part. Thankfully, the near lone-goal was stopped by Spencer Brown as the clock read 25:44.

The Bulldog's first of two solid attempts at tying the game came in the 33rd minute, off the foot of Brendan Koziol. Koziol sent an odd spinning shot on-goal, that found its way through several defenders and just shy of the goal line, as the goalkeeper was able to divert the low powered ball.

Also in the first half, an Adrian free kick found its way into the hectic box of Hope, where Dylan Wismont was able to send a strong shot on-goal in the 39th minute.

Despite intensity carrying throughout the entire second half, neither team was able to score and the game ended with a low 1-0 score.

In goal for AC, Brown made four stellar saves on five shots on-goal.

The Bulldogs, having locked down the fourth seed in the MIAA Tournament, have lived to play another game, as they will host fifth seeded Trine at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
