The Adrian College men's tennis team continued to barnstorm through the Dairyland on Friday with a pair of 9-0 wins at MSOE and Concordia (Wis.).
The Bulldogs disposed of the Raiders in the first match of the day in Glendale, Wisconsin at Elite Sport Club. Michael Mertz and Joey Loselle erased Tom Smith and Zachary Dam 8-0 at one doubles. Troy Gargrave and Jeff Sophiea were pushed to the limit before winning 9-8 (7-5) at two doubles. Alex Amos and Brandon Brom claimed an 8-4 win at three doubles.
Adrian won all six singles in straight sets. No Raider won more than three games in a set as the Bulldogs left little doubt on the court. Loselle won 6-1, 6-1 at two singles over Dam. Gargrave slipped past Smith at five singles by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Mertz toyed with David Gorodetsky in a 6-0, 6-2 win at three singles.
The team then traveled to Jackson, Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. first serve against Concordia (Wis.) at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club. Mertz and Loselle broke a bigger sweat at one doubles with a 9-7 win over Benjamin Nommensen and Brad Guendel. Amos and Brom held it down at three doubles with an 8-2 win over Ryan Rogers and Nick Gold. Sophiea and Gargrave had an 8-4 win at two doubles.
Sophiea went to three sets in a 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 decision against Guendel at four singles. Loselle posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score at two singles over Ceejay Schaffner. Brom posted a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at one singles over Trevor Budewitz. Amos finished a strong day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at six singles over Rogers.
