ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's volleyball team were defeated 3-0 at the hands of conference opponent Marian (Wis.) on Saturday (Feb. 13) morning (25-18, 25-8, 25-13). Eduardo Aleman contributed six kills, one assist and an attack percentage of .043 in the losing effort.
Javes Escalera paced the Bulldog offense with eight assists. Will Dowdy led the defense with six digs (also tallied three kills on the offensive side). Tyler Porras also contributed four digs and Michael Burkhardt recorded three kills for Adrian.
For the first time in three matches the Bulldogs (0-8, 0-4 MCVL) finished a set with a positive team attack percentage (set 3, .088).
The Sabres were led offensively by Jon Smallpage (12 kills) and Aaron Wendels (11 kills). Marian was paced by Joey Dittman with 31 assists and led defensively by Cullen Liberski (16 digs).
Adrian will be on the road for nearly a month. The first stop is a trip to conference foe Mount St. Joseph on Friday, Febraury 19. The match is set to start at 5:30 p.m. The next home match is scheduled for Friday, March 11 when the Bulldogs host Benedictine (Ill.) in a conference matchup.
