ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College men's wrestling coach Bill Schindel has announced that he has rounded out his staff with Ryne Morrison as an assistant and Zach Rieger as a student assistant coach. The Bulldogs men's wrestling staff also includes Nathan Goetting and Cliff Cushard.
Morrison comes to Adrian after a one-year stint as a graduate assistant for the Heidelberg University wrestling program. Prior to Heidelberg, Morrison finished his career at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where he was a 2016 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selection at 141 pounds and a Division II Athletic Directors' Association Academic Achievement Award winner. Morrison is originally from Berkeley Heights, N.J.
"First and foremost, I'd like to thank (Athletics Director) Michael Duffy and Coach Schindel for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Adrian College wrestling program," Morrison said. "Additionally, I would like to thank my family, friends and coaches (Bill) Racich at Ursinus College, (Tony) Patrizi at Heidelberg and (Rob) Fisher from Kutztown University, and the Heidelberg athletics staff for all their support. Each of them has helped facilitate my development both personally and professionally.
"I have always wanted to become a coach and being a part of this up and coming program is a dream come true. I can't wait to work with Coach Schindel and Coach Cushard."
Rieger is one of the most successful wrestlers in school history, especially in his 285 class. He is a three-time Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, 2017 NCAA Championship qualifier and the all-time wins leader for the program. As a senior co-captain, he captured five Invitational titles, listed in the top-15 for NCAA Division III pinfalls. A secondary education major (social studies and teacher's education, with an English minor), he is student teaching at Sand Creek Junior High School this fall semester.
