ADA, Ohio - The women's basketball team rebounded after a season opening loss with a 56-42 win on Saturday (Nov. 19) over Transylvania in the second game of the Sodexo Classic Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Ohio Northern. The bench was the story for the Bulldogs in this one as they outscored the Pioneer reserves 39-14. Junior guard Rachael Walker led the charge with 16 points in just 17 minutes. She went 7-of-9 from the floor and also dished out two assists. Senior forward Jenn Headley had another good game with 12 points and six rebounds. Headley went 6-of-9 from the floor in 25 minutes.
Adrian trailed 27-22 at halftime and turned up its intensity in the second half outscoring Transylvania 34-15. The Pioneers quickly extended their lead to 30-22 after intermission before the Bulldogs got to work in the middle stages of the half. Adrian used a 10-0 run to tie the game at 39-39 with 9:14 left in the game after a triple by Katie Ross. The Bulldogs continued to play tough defense and built their lead to 53-42 with 2:40 left after a bucket by Senneca Scott. Adrian held Transylvania to just three points in the last 12:31 of the contest.
The Bulldogs for the second straight night hit the boards hard with a +15 advantage (41-26) including eight offensive caroms. Jasmine Byers led the team with 11 rebounds and also had seven points and four steals. Scott finished with eight points and eight boards in 19 minutes. Adrian shot 44 percent for the game (22-of-50) and were 4-of-12 from behind the arc. The Bulldogs will entertain rival Siena Heights in their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 6:00 PM.
