ANGOLA, Ind. - The women's basketball team evened its record at 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA with a 41-39 win at Trine University on Saturday, Jan. 7. It was the fewest points scored by the Thunder in the 19th meeting between the two teams and the Bulldogs stretched its winning streak over their border rival to six games. In addition, the last time Adrian allowed 39 points in a win was Feb. 19, 2000 in a 53-39 win against Saint Mary's (Ind.).
The Bulldogs won their third straight game to move into fourth place in the conference standings. Sophomore LaQwana Dockery played a major role in the two-point win by Adrian. She recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds and also scored in double figures for the fourth time this season. Dockery went 3-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line in 34 minutes.
Leading scorer Katie Ross added nine points all on three-point baskets (3-of-7) and also grabbed four rebounds in 34 minutes. Senneca Scott followed up a double-double last game with six points and eight boards off the bench with three blocks in 30 minutes. The Bulldogs shot 26.1 percent for the game (12-of-46) while the Thunder shot 22.2 percent (12-of-54). The game featured nine ties and 10 lead changes.
