ADRIAN, Mich. - Head Coach Kathy Morris set the all-time win record at Adrian College on Saturday (Dec. 8) afternoon with a 73-62 win over Kalamazoo College. Morris (224 wins) passed Nancy Walsh on the school's win list and for the season improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
The Bulldogs went to the free throw line 33 times on Saturday and connected on 22 of those attempts. The team was 17-of-27 (63 percent) in the second half. Kalamazoo went 15-of-18 from the line and were 14-of-17 in the second half. Kalamazoo slips to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA with the loss.
The Bulldogs shot 41 percent from the floor and were 44.4 percent in the second half including 1-of-3 from behind the arc. Kalamazoo shot 33.3 percent in the second half and were just 2-of-8 from behind the arc. Jasmine Byers had a big game for Adrian with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Byers grabbed nine of those of the offensive end as Adrian had 15 second-chance points for the game. Byers was 8-of-13 from the floor in 24 minutes.
Amy Van Gessel added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists from the post. Van Gessel played 34 minutes and converted on six field goals (3 in each half). Lauren Rhoads scored seven of her eight points in the second half going 8-of-10 at the free throw line. Raven Anderson went 6-of-10 from the floor off the bench and finished with 16 points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes. Anderson scored eight points in each half.
