ADA, Ohio – The women's basketball team went on the road to No. 8 Ohio Northern on Saturday afternoon and fell 90-67 in a non-conference matchup. The Polar Bears led wire-to-wire scoring the first 10 points of the game before Adrian could get on the board at 16:13 on a three-pointer by senior Lauren Rhoads.
The Polar Bears built another double-digit lead at 17-7 after a pair of Karissa Steffas free throws with 12:23 left in the half. Adrian hit the double figure mark trailing 25-11 after an Antoinea McElroy layup with 8:34 left in the half. ONU broke open a 21-point lead at 38-17 after a Taylor Hermiller layup with 3:45 remaining in the first half and Adrian could not recover from that strong first half performance by Ohio Northern.
Adrian was led in scoring by three players with 11 points. LaQwana Dockery was the only starter in double figures going 4-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-3 at the foul line. McElroy's 11 points in 23 minutes included 3-of-12 shooting and 5-of-7 at the charity stripe. Brigitte Zavithsanos had a season-high 11 points on 3-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 at the foul line. Adrian shot 30.2 percent for the game while Ohio Northern shot 50 percent including 70 percent (21-of-30) at the foul line. Jordan Kimes had a double-double for ONU with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Cenzie Yoder added 16 points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes.
