ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on the Anderson University (Ind.) Ravens Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The teams battled early, but Adrian pulled away to a 29-21 halftime lead on their way to a convincing 69-49 victory. This win advances the overall record for Adrian in 2014-15 to 2-5.
The Bulldogs overcame a 15-13 deficit with 10:15 remaining in the first half with a 15-0 run to take 28-15 lead. Adrian carried a 29-21 halftime lead behind Marissa Cotton as she scored seven points and added six rebounds. Paige Machnacki came off of the bench to total six first half points.
Adrian added to their lead in the second half and would go up by as many as 22 points. The Bulldogs controlled the second 20 minute period as they secured their first home win of the season. TraeVie Shelton totaled eight points and seven rebounds in the second half while Jorden York recorded seven points.
The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the floor for the game on 31-62 shooting. Adrian was able to hold the Ravens to just 33.3 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers to which they scored 33 points. The Bulldogs saw each of their starting five record a steal and Shelton led the team with three.
Cotton finished the game with 11 points and seven rebounds. Shelton totaled 10 points and nine rebounds while Machnacki came off of the bench to score 10 points.
The Bulldogs will see action again tomorrow (12/21) when they host Finlandia University at 3 p.m.
