Bulldogs Take First Game in the Bronx

BRONX, N.Y. – The women's basketball team started their play in the Lehman College Coaches versus Cancer Tournament Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs took out Kean University by jumping out to a 35-23 halftime lead, and securing their 74-57 victory with a 35-34 second half margin. This win advances the win streak for Adrian to three games and improves their overall record in 2014-15 to 4-5.

Adrian took a 12 point halftime lead over Kean behind Jorden York as she recorded 11 points in the first half. The Bulldogs took this lead to halftime following a comeback from a 16-11 Kean lead with 12:06 left in the half. Adrian responded with a 17-2 run that would propel the Bulldogs to a double-digit half time lead.

The Bulldogs maintained their lead in the second half behind Antoinea McElroy as she totaled 10 points and six rebounds. Adrian would not let Kean come within six points for the remainder of the game while they stretched their lead to as many as 15 points. Brigitte Zavithsanos scored seven points in the second half to add to the Bulldog attack.

York finished the game with 15 points and five rebounds. McElroy totaled 16 points and nine rebounds while Marissa Cotton totaled 10 points. TraeVie Shelton and Paige Machnacki helped the Bulldogs edge Kean in rebounding (60-50) but recording 10 and 12 rebounds respectively.
