ALBION, Mich. – The Bulldogs met Albion College Saturday afternoon in an MIAA matchup. The Bulldogs overcame a two-point halftime deficit to force overtime, but the Britons outlasted Adrian in the extra period, 67-65. This loss leaves the MIAA record for the Bulldogs at 1-4 with a 5-8 mark overall.
The Britons controlled the lead throughout the first half and advanced their lead to as many as 10 points. Adrian fought back into the game, 22-20, before the break behind Brigitte Zavithsanos as she totaled seven points and TraeVie Shelton as she recorded 11 rebounds.
The second half saw the Bulldogs fight back into the game to force overtime. The Britons would extend their lead to nine points, but the Bulldogs battled back to tie the game, 41-41,as Zavithsanos made the game-tying three point shot. The teams could not determine a winner in regulation as they would trade the lead four times and play to a tied score four times over the remainder of the game.
The overtime period saw the Bulldogs grab the lead with 1:18 left on a Jorden York made a three point shot. The Britons would then tie the game on a made free throw with 52 seconds left, and outlast Adrian with the go ahead jump shot with just 13 seconds left in the game.
Zavithsanos totaled 17 points while York recorded 11 points. Shelton compiled nine points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.
