ANGOLA, Ind. – The Bulldogs met Trine University Wednesday night in a crucial MIAA road matchup. The Thunder played stingy defense in the first half as they held Adrian to just 17 points. Adrian fought back into the game in the second half, but could not overcome the Thunder as they fell 59-50 to leave their record at 5-9,1-5 on the season.
The first half saw the Bulldogs carry a 12-11 lead with 11:24 left. Thunder then responded by grabbing the lead at the 11:10 mark, and did not relinquish their advantage for the remainder of the half. Adrian trailed 26-17 at the break led by Jorden York as she tallied six points to lead the Bulldog attack.
The Bulldogs would fight back in the second half from an eight-point Thunder advantage to grab the lead, 34-33, on an Amber McCullough layup with 11:53 remaining. The Bulldogs and Thunder would trade the lead over the remainder of the game, but Trine would pull away at the end to leave Adrian behind, 59-50.
York led Adrian with 18 points while Brigitte Zavithsanos tallied nine points. McCullough came off of the bench to record seven points and 10 rebounds.
