Three-Point Shooting Propels Bulldogs Past Alma

ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's basketball team took on Alma College Wednesday night in an MIAA matchup. The Bulldogs and Scots played to a 19-19 tie at the break before Adrian caught fire from behind the arch in the second half. Adrian went 7-8 from three-point range in the second half to propel them past Alma with a 59-54 victory. The Bulldogs now stand at 6-10 overall with a 2-6 mark in the MIAA.

Adrian played Alma to a 19-19 halftime stalemate as neither team could find their offensive stride. The Bulldogs were led by Antoinea McElroy as she recorded five points and six rebounds for the half. The second saw both teams turned on the offense, and the Bulldogs would find their shot from behind the arch. Adrian went 0-10 in the first half from three-point range, but responded in the second half by going 7-8. Jorden York and Marissa Cotton each went 3-3 to lead the Bulldog attack. Adrian opened up an eight-point lead with 9:27 left in the half that they did not relinquish as Amber McCullough made a pair of clutch free throws with three seconds remaining to secure the 59-54 victory.

McElroy finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. York and Cotton each totaled 11 points while McCullough recorded seven points and six rebounds.
