ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's basketball team invites you to a special day at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday, Feb. 14. The stars of today and yesterday will compete in the alumni game at 12:15 p.m. followed by the annual Pink Zone game against Trine University at 7:30 p.m. The junior varsity will play at 5:15 p.m. against the Thunder as well.
The day will also be Senior Night for Jasmyne Owens and TraeVie Shelton. The Pink Zone initiative has grown each year for the women's basketball team in support of the fight against breast cancer. Last year, a portion of the proceeds went towards a fund called Angels Wings. The fund was started to help Alma women's basketball coach Keisha Brown in her fight with cancer. Sadly, she lost her battle on April 10, 2014 at the age of 42. The MIAA women's basketball coaches will continue to assist Keisha's family with donations this year. The proceeds from this year will also go to local patients that need assistance with their medical bills.
There will be a raffle for select items prior to the varsity game and Adrian College will recognize cancer survivors before the game begins on the court. The team is also selling t-shirts for $12 and sweatshirts for $25 in the athletic department office and also at Ritchie Dining Hall beginning tomorrow. For more information, please contact head coach Kathy Morris (email@example.com).
