ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on Trine University Saturday night in their final home game of the 2014-15 season. Adrian would find themselves in a 12 point halftime deficit before a second half surge gave them the lead. The Thunder would halt this comeback on a layup at the buzzer and the Bulldogs would fall just short, 68-66.
Adrian started off slow as they trailed 34-22 at the break. Amber McCullough would lead the Bulldogs with seven points in the half, but Adrian allowed Trine to score first and last as they looked up at a 12-point deficit. The Bulldogs would remain behind by double-digits with 11:25 left in the game, 52-37, before they mounted their comeback. Adrian would go on a 17-0 run to take the lead, 54-52, with 6:29 remaining behind Marissa Cotton and Antoinea McElroy. Cotton would tally 17 second half points while McElroy totaled 14 to lead the Bulldog charge.
Adrian would fight to a 64-64 tie as Cotton made the game-tying layup with four seconds remaining following a pair of missed free throws by the Thunder. Trine would then stun Adrian with a layup of their own as time expired following a timeout where they designed a play to cover the length of the court. The 66-64 loss sets the overall record for Adrian back to 7-16 and the MIAA record now stands at 3-11.
